Cavanders “Ancient Egypt” Cigarette Card #17 “The Portrait of Thyr, Sakkarah”. Produced in 1928.

Text on reverse of card reads:

“The portrait of Thyr, his wife and son is from the tomb of Thyr Sakkarah. This painted tomb gives a series of pictures of ancient life in Egypt 5.000 years ago.
Thyr was a sportsman, and fishing, shooting with arrows, hunting and pursuit of big game’ are all represented. Crocodiles, hippopotami, and other monsters are shown, also herds and flocks of cattle. The sowing, reaping and storing of grain is likewise depicted. Many portraits of Thyr are given his statue is preserved in the Cairo Museum.”
