“A Roman aqueduct, the Puente del Diablo, or Devil’s Bridge, at Segovia in Spain (once a Roman pleasure-resort), enjoys the distinction of being still in use after standing nearly 2,000 years. It was built by the Emperor Trajan, and restored in the 15th century at the command of Queen Isabella. Built without cement, mortar, or rivets, it is 2,700 feet long and & feet wide; consists of tog arches in two tiers; and at its highest point is 15 feet above the roadway. The conduit which it carries across the valley comes from the Rio Frio, ten miles away.”
