Text on reverse of card reads:

“This amazing structure in Central Java is really a large hill coated with the most elaborate covering of carven stones to form one gigantic shrine of Buddhism. It rises 150 feet on a square base 520 feet each in seven terraces of which the upper three are circular: the lower four have their square outline broken by angles receding from the centre of each side. The latter are adorned with two linear miles of carved reliefs, the former with 72 latticed cupolas each containing a statue of the Buddha. Steps ascend to the domed relic shrine at the summit. Begun about 850 A.D., but never finished.”
