Text on reverse of card reads:
“Restoration based on remains of the royal palaces of ancient Nineveh discovered beneath earth mounds on the upper Tigris. Assyria was colonised from Babylonia, and Nineveh, its chief city, was in existence 3000 B.C., though only at the height of its magnificence about 700 B.C. On the left a temple- tower, next to it a temple, then the palace of Ashurbanipal or Sardanapalus 1008-626 B.C.). another royal palace, and finally the palace of Esarhaddon (681- 609 B.C.I. Other palaces identified are those of Shalmaneser 11 (860 B.C.) and Sennacherib (about 700 B.C.), the latter per- haps the finest of all.”
