SKU: EM548.4 Categories: , , ,

Cavanders “Ancient Egypt” Cigarette Card #4 “Egyptian Goldsmith at Work”. Produced in 1928.

Text on reverse of card reads:

“The manufacture of objects out of gold was effected by goldsmiths, who after melting down an ingot or a portion of ore, in a crucible, with the help of a blowpipe, proceeded to work the material into shape with the forceps and tongs, and finally to fashion it with graving tools.
Among the objects produced were solid rings of certain sizes and weights, which seem to have passed current as money
A good deal of taste was shown by the Egyptian goldsmiths in their armlets bracelets, earrings and finger rings.”
