Text on reverse of card reads:
“From the time of the 18th dynasty of Egyptian kings about 1550 B.C.), Thebes, near the modern Luxor on the Upper Nile, was the seat of power, and was adorned by successive rulers with some of the most stupendous temples ever raised by human hands. So great was its sanctity that building went on long after its power had passed away. This massive gateway, standing on the processional way to the temple of the moon-god Khensu at Karnak on the eastern tank, was erected by the Greek king of Egypt. Ptolemy III (247-222 B.C, who is shown in the sculptures Sacrificing to Theban deities.”
