Cavanders “Ancient Egypt” Cigarette Card #9 “Egyptian Sepulchral Jars”. Produced in 1928.

Text on reverse of card reads:

“At the embalmment of a body, the intestines were taken out, treated with medicaments and deposited in jars bearing the heads of the four genii Amset, Hapi, Tuamutef and Kebhsnauf, which were represented by the heads of a man, a cynocephalous ape, a jackal, and a hawk respectively. Each genius had certain intestines committed to his care.
To Amset, the stomach and large intestines: Hapi, the smaller intestines; Tuamutef. the lungs and heart: Kebhsnauf, the liver and gall-bladder.
These beings, with Anubis, a genius known as “Lord of the Burying- ground” presided over the grave.”
