Cavanders “Ancient Egypt” Cigarette Card #6 “Egyptian Potters”. Produced in 1928.
Text on reverse of card reads:
“Egyptian pottery embraced varieties of a coarse red, black, or yellow earthenware, suitable for the wants of the common people: a finer terracotta used for vases, amphorae &c. and a beautiful porcelain or faience, which was of many different colours, and was used for various purposes.
The ordinary earthenware was of three ends unglazed, glazed and painted. Almost all the various specimens found, appear to have been shaped by the wheel, which must have been of an extreme antiquity in Egypt while in other countries it is of comparatively recent introduction.”
