Cavanders “Ancient Egypt” Cigarette Card #21 “Egyptian Trumpeters”. Produced in 1928.

Text on reverse of card reads:

“The sounding of trumpets was used to give the signal for an attack on an enemy army. The same instruments were employed on the march of an army, both for starting and halting the columns.
The Egyptian trumpet was a long tube, expanded into a large bell- shape at the end, and was made of brass.
The trumpet and drum were used together for the enlivenment of soldiers on the march, and also to regulate their movements.”
