Collection History

The objects our family have brought together to create the Museum of Egyptomania began as a small number of souvenirs and trinkets our family acquired during their winters in Egypt and travels on the Continent. Combined with our grandparents’ selection of personal treasures, there are also a wider range of items we ourselves have continued to collect for our own interest and pleasure, augmented by gifts and donations from friends and acquaintances.

Originally with little thought that they could ever form a collection as such, they were scattered around various places in our home, from bedroom dressing tables and attics to the family library, the main sitting room and even the kitchens, underlining the diversity of the kinds of objects we realised we had and now wish to share online.
